Big congratulations to Sergeant Hallbauer!

After 27 years of dedicated service, Sergeant Mark Hallbauer is officially retiring.

Throughout his career, Mark has worn many hats and excelled in every one of them. He has served as a Connecticut State Certified Instructor in numerous disciplines, managed the East Lyme Police Department's fleet, and helped ensure our officers had the equipment they needed to safely serve our community.

But if you ask many people what they'll remember most, the answer is simple—the East Lyme Police Cadet Program.

For years, Mark has inspired, mentored, and guided dozens of young men and women from East Lyme and surrounding communities who dreamed of a career in law enforcement. His patience, leadership, and commitment to developing future public safety professionals have left a lasting impact on countless lives. Many of today's police officers proudly began their journey under his mentorship.

Mark also served as the past Director of the North East Regional Law Enforcement Educational Association (NERLEEA) Cadet Academy, where his influence extended well beyond our town, helping shape the next generation of law enforcement leaders throughout the region.

From all of us at the East Lyme Police Department, thank you, Mark, for your unwavering dedication, leadership, friendship, and service to our community.

Congratulations on your well-earned retirement. We wish you and your family many years of health, happiness, and new adventures.

Please join us in congratulating Sergeant Hallbauer and thanking him for his remarkable 27 years of service!
