TRAVEL ADVISORY

NYS Route 12 – City of Norwich

Bridge Work – NYS Dept. of Transportation

NYS DOT has started work on the bridge on NYS Rt. 12 over the Canasawacta Creek effective April 7th.

This bridge is on the southern end of the City of Norwich as you enter the City by Dickies Bar B-Q and McDonalds.

The work is expected to last approximately 2 weeks.

Be aware of stop and go traffic and expect delays.

Advised seek alternative routes to meet your destination during this timeframe.

01/25/2026

The City of Norwich is aware of the power outage in the area of North Broad St / Cortland and other streets.
NYSE&G has an estimated time of restoration around 2:15 this afternoon.

01/25/2026

The Governor declared a State of Emergency for this event so as that funding and resources are readily available if needed.
The State of Emergency declaration does NOT close the roads. It's basically an administrative action to mobilize any needed additional resources to be available as needed.

If the roads do get closed that declaration will come the Chairman of the Board for Chenango County for the county and if the City of Norwich declares a State of Emergency that will be issued by the Mayor of the City.

At this time there is NO - State of Emergency as related to Closures of Roads within Chenango County.

Best practice is to listen to local Official Municipality Social Media posts for any "OFFICIAL" declarations for a State of Emergency for Chenango Co. and/or City of Norwich
