**ARREST**

On May 28th, 2026, a Town of Smyrna resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Harassment in the Second Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jordan R. Robinson, a 30-year-old Town of Smyrna resident. Deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Smyrna for a domestic dispute. During the investigation it was found that Robinson subjected the victim to unwanted physical contact, damaged property, and attempted to prevent the victim from calling 911 in the presence of a juvenile. Robinson was arrested and transported to the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office where he was held for Centralized Arraignment. After arraignment Robinson was released on his own recognizance, and an order of protection was issued for the victim. Robinson is to appear in the Town of Smyrna Court at a later date.

One Count of Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree
One Count of Criminal Mischief in the Fourth Degree

Crash Investigation

On May 18, 2026, at approximately 5:50 p.m., the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 5400 block of State Highway 12 in the Town of Norwich for a reported motor vehicle versus bicycle crash.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 69-year-old male from Oxford, NY was operating an E-bike on the southbound shoulder of the roadway when he entered the southbound lane and was struck by a vehicle operated by a 16-year-old male traveling southbound.

The operator of the E-bike was transported by Mercy Flight to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, where he remains in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Norwich Police Department, Norwich Fire Department, New York State Department of Transportation, Oxford Fire Department, Sherburne Fire Department, and Mercy Flight.

On May 11, 2026, a Village of New Berlin resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree.

Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Adam L. Church, a 42-year-old Village of New Berlin resident after patrol received a complaint that the defendant had been violating a duly served order of protection in the Town of New Berlin. Upon further investigation it was found that Church had been calling and texting the victim that had a full stay away order of protection against him. Church was taken into custody without incident and later arraigned by Norwich City Court where he was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $3,500 cash bail. He is to appear in the Town of New Berlin Court at a later date.

On May 7th, 2026, a Norwich resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office for Petit Larceny.

Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Nicole M. Knuth, a 36-year-old Norwich resident, following a complaint from a local business. The business reported Nicole had came into the store on two separate dates and stole miscellaneous items both times. Following the investigation Nicole was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Petit Larceny. Nicole was released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

On May 8th, 2026, a City of Norwich resident was arrested by the Chenango County Sheriff's Office for Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of an Address Change.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested Terry L. Crandall, a 54-year-old Chenango County resident, on the charge of Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of an Address Change which is a violation of the Correction Law in New York State. Crandall is a level one convicted s*x offender in the state of New York and failed to register a new address. Crandall was arrested and released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Norwich Court at a later date.

Charges: Failure to Notify Law Enforcement of Address Change (E Felony)

ARREST

CHENANGO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE ARREST


On April 28, 2026, the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Town of Guilford resident in connection with a larceny investigation.


Deputies responded to a report of a stolen electrical transformer from a job site located on State Highway 8 in the Town of Guilford. The transformer had been delivered to the site and was scheduled for installation; however, when company personnel arrived, the equipment was missing.


The Sheriff’s Office initially received the complaint on April 22, 2026. Following a thorough investigation conducted by Deputies with assistance from the Detective Division, authorities determined that Luman C. Craver, age 39, had allegedly removed the transformer from the job site. Further investigation revealed that Craver dismantled the transformer in an attempt to sell the scrap metal. Portions of the transformer were reportedly transported to Otsego County and discarded.


Craver was taken into custody without incident and arraigned in Chenango County Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) Court. He was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Guilford Court at a later date.

Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree
Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree
Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree
