July 1st has finally arrived! Farmer's Market Coupons are here and ready for you to pick up. Please visit us at the main office M- F 8:30am to 5pm (except 7/3/26) or one of the locations around the county listed below. Please keep in mind qualifications are as follows:
* Must be 60 years or older
* Must meet income requirements of :
- $2,461/monthly for a one person household
-$3,337/ monthly for a two person household
- $4,212/ monthly for a three person household

We did receive a smaller amount of coupons to start this year and are unsure if we will receive a second round, so come see us and get yours sooner rather than later!

The Public Hearing regarding services offered by our Agency, the proposed budget and restructuring is June 26th at 1:00PM, in the Full Board Room located at 5 Court Street Norwich, NY.

Coming to the AAOA and the Bull Thistle: “Dear Sam”

Dear Reader,
I’m Sam Lyons, and I work for the Chenango County Area Agency on Aging. At 40 years old, I feel as if I am simultaneously old and young. I love movies, thrifting, crafts, cats, romance, and falling asleep at 8:30 p.m. I’m one of the latest Outreach Workers recruited to the team, but in my 1.5 years in my position, I have already met thousands of the members of our community, making many friends along the way.
At the office, I deal with issues around Medicare, government programs, aide services, and other resources for our community members.
Outside of the AAOA, I’m a wife, mother, daughter, Sagittarius, my blood type is A-positive… I’m a person, just like you.
Somewhat out of the blue, I was asked if I was interested in writing a sort of advice column for our newsletter. I wondered if someone had gotten hold of my diary and seen that writing for an advice column was a cherished wish I had, once upon a time.
Now that you know a little about me, I want to ask you to help us add more color and community to the Bull Thistle.
