The Civilian Police Academy is not a program to become a volunteer Police Officer. Instead, it’s an educational opportunity for community members to get an inside look at how their police department works.
Participants learn about real world police procedures, equipment, investigations, training and day to day responsibilities. It’s a chance to ask questions, see demonstrations, and understand why officers do what they do.
The goal is simple: build transparency, strengthen community relationships, and give residents a better understanding of the realities of policing.

Tonight, Norwich PBA members successfully captured “Eddie” the Emu(a name dubbed by our members on scene), a bird that has been a local talking point. The Emu has been returned to its rightful owner.

Never thought we'd write that in a police report.

Officer Vinal located this lost pup on Canasawacta Street. Probably got lost going to a 4th of July party…..he also seems upset that there are no fireworks tonight (the dog, NOT Officer Vinal)

This little guy will be hanging out at the Police Department (again, the dog, NOT Officer Vinal) hopefully awaiting its owner before we are forced to transport him to the SPCA for the weekend ☹️

Please contact the Norwich Police Department if you have details on the owner!

UPDATE! The owners have been found and contacted! Looks like Buster is going home!

Happy 4th! 🇺🇸
