Good Morning Norwich!
A couple of new things to let you know about. Our Office at 10 Hazen Street is usually open M-F 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Often our doors are open outside that time, but we strive to make that the minimum. Sometimes, though, we have people out for things like lunch, vacations, training, and so forth. With the less-than-stellar cell phone service about town, we wanted to make sure someone coming to our station had a way to get help. So, we've added two communications devices:
When you enter the Lobby, there is a phone directly to the right of the window to our Administration Office. Pick that phone up and it will immediately start ringing inside the PD. If no one is in the building, or can't get to the phone in time, after about three rings it will automatically transfer over to our Dispatch Center at Hartford, Vermont Police Department. The awesome folks answering the phone down there will handle the call just as if you called from home or work. This option is available anytime our front doors are open.
If you come by the station and the doors are locked, immediately to the right of the front door is a silver box. Press that button that says "Call" and you will immediately be connected to our Dispatch Center. This option is available 24/7/265.
Either of these options can be used for Police, Fire or Medical Emergencies, and emergency calls for the Department of Public Works and Norwich Fire District (Water Department). If you are trying to get help for a Fire or Medical Emergency, or something for the Department of Public Works, the Dispatcher taking your call will likely transfer you over to Hanover NH Police Department, who dispatches Fire, Ambulance and Public Works for Norwich.
We have signage ordered and will be putting that up in the next week or so.
Ok - that's a lot for a Wednesday. Enjoy this Beautiful Day!
