You are invited to the 125th Meeting of the Society of the Founders of Norwich CT. 125 years ago, in 1901, the Society of the Founders of Norwich CT, was established as a genealogical society for descendants of the Norwich Founders and dedicated to the preservation and presentation of Norwich history. For the next 50 years they published, offered presentations and placed historic plaques to commemorate Norwich History. Then, in the 1950's, the Society acquired two historic buildings in Norwich: the Leffingwell Inn which was purchased from the state of CT, when the rte 2 extension was constructed and the Joseph Carpenter Silversmith Shop received from United Community & Family Services. The Leffingwell Inn was moved to land leased from the state and restored as a house museum, known today as the Leffingwell House Museum. The Silversmith Shop was rented to architect Richard Sharp, who restored it and also was instrumental in the restoration of the Leffingwell Inn. In 2021 it was opened as the Joseph Carpenter Silversmith Shop & history museum presenting the history of the craftsmen and businesses located in Norwichtown which was the social and commercial center of Norwich.
