St. Vincent de Paul Place Norwich

St. Vincent de Paul Place Norwich Food Pantry, Soup Kitchen, and Advocacy. St.

Vincent de Paul Place (SVdPP) was founded to meet the basic needs of the poor and homeless in Norwich, CT and the surrounding region. Since 1979, provide food and loving care to the poor and homeless of the Norwich area, regardless of race or religion. SVdPP is consistent with Christian tradition; is non-judgmental; promotes a more independent lifestyle for clients; encourages compassion; and is

sensitive to emergency needs. Our goals at SVdPP are to keep our patrons nourished and as stable as possible in their health, housing, and daily activity, as well as to offer a variety of ways to link patrons to programs and benefits that will lead them toward self-sufficiency. The staff that accomplishes this is made up of three full-time and five part-time employees, who are supported by over 100 active volunteers.

Carrie and Marty pause for a quick smile while getting ready to serve breakfast to our community. On the menu was eggs, sausage, oatmeal, cereal, and toast, a warm and welcoming start to the day for many of our guests.

Carrie is a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club, whose members generously volunteer here and support our work. Marty is one of our longtime volunteers, known for bringing smiles, laughter, costumes, and jokes that brighten the dining room and lift spirits.

Thank you both for the kindness, energy, and joy you bring to St. Vincent de Paul Place.

In today’s photo, our volunteer Arthur is helping gather clothing for one of our patrons experiencing homelessness.

At St. Vincent de Paul Place, we try to keep a supply of basic essentials available for our VIPs, including underclothes, socks, sweatpants, shorts, and a variety of shirts. We also have outerwear and shoes available.

Something as simple as a clean pair of socks, a warm sweatshirt, or properly fitting shoes can make a tremendous difference in someone’s day, especially for those facing life outdoors.

Thank you to Arthur and to all those in our community who donate clothing and essentials to help care for our neighbors with dignity and compassion.

Beverly was all smiles as she received a set of dishes donated by Donald, who no longer needed them.

These dishes will now become part of our apartment room, a special space where individuals and families who are moving into housing can shop, free of charge, for everyday household items they need to help turn an apartment into a home.

Every plate, pot, towel, and lamp tells a story of community. Items once used and loved by one neighbor become a fresh start for another.

A heartfelt thank you to Donald, and to all those in our community who continue to donate household items with such generosity and care. These simple acts help create dignity, comfort, and hope for those beginning a new chapter.

Today we are highlighting Jill, one of our wonderful new volunteers at St. Vincent de Paul Place.

Jill has quickly become a bright part of our mornings, serving coffee with kindness and helping make people smile, one cup at a time, every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Sometimes it is the smallest gestures, a warm cup of coffee, a friendly hello, a welcoming smile, that help people feel seen and cared for.

Thank you, Jill, for the warmth and compassion you bring to our community each week.

Check out this beautiful salad being prepared for our community.

A heartfelt thank you to DIG Goods from the Garden and to Barb from North Stonington for providing what may just be the best lettuce ever. Fresh, vibrant, and grown with care, it helped create a meal that was both nourishing and made with love.

We are so grateful for the farmers, gardeners, and community members who help bring fresh local food to the tables of those we serve each day.
