United Way of Mid Rural New York, Inc. We are a local United Way the serves a 4 county region. We proudly serve Chenango, Delaware, Madison and Otsego Counties.

We run our annual fundraising campaign in the fall which supports over 35 programs across our region. The United Way of Mid Rural New York builds partnerships and maximizes resources to improve the quality of life for local residents of Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego Counties. In addition to creating programs to improve the community, UWMRNY raises money to fund grants, which are awarded to organi

zations and programs which improve income, education, and/or health in the community. The roots of today's organization were first established in 1948 as the Community Chest of Norwich. By 1989 the organization had expanded its reach outside the City of Norwich, and changed its name to reflect its increasing services and support, the name by which it is known today: Chenango United Way, Inc. Starting January 1st, 2023 what was known as Chenango United Way and United Way of Delaware and Otsego Counties, has now combined. This also included a name change to what it is known as today: United Way of Mid Rural New York. Open to the public

We will be doing 4 different days of sorting for each of our 4 counties. (Chenango, Delaware, Madison and Otsego)

We will be sharing the date of each Day of Caring event soon. Youth in grades pre-k thru 5th will receive a dental kit. We do this in partnership with the Dental Task Force of Chenango, Delaware, and Otsego along with the Oral Health Partnership in Madison. Kits were packed in June and with the start of school comes time to highlight how important dental care is. The Day of Caring will call for volunteers to count out kits and deliver to local schools. We are proud to recognize Dolly Parton and her incredible vision behind Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library—a program that helps put the joy and wonder of books into the hands of young children.

Through our partnership with Imagination Library, United Way of Mid Rural New York is honored to help bring this gift to children and families in our community.

Every book delivered represents more than a story. It is an opportunity to build early literacy skills, spark curiosity, encourage imagination, and create special moments between children and the adults who love them.

We are grateful to Dolly Parton for her belief that every child deserves the opportunity to grow up surrounded by books, and we are proud to be part of a partnership that is helping make that vision a reality right here in our community.

Her family has urged people who want to remember he to donate to the Dolly Parton Imaginatio Library instead of giving flowers, helping to carry on the cause she cared so much about.

United Way of Mid Rural New York is pleased to run the Imagination Library locally serving the Chenango, Delaware and Otsego youth, if you wish to donate in memory of Dolly, you can support the program by visiting https://www.uwmrny.org/Donate, in donor notes, please state DPIL.

After careful consideration, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming Co****le event. scheduled for August 29th at Hidden Springs Brewery.

We appreciate everyone who expressed interest and supported the event. While we’re disappointed that we won’t be gathering this time, we look forward to offering more opportunities to connect with our community in the future.
