Primary Marksmanship Instructors (PMI), though they don the Campaign cover, are not drill instrutors. Their sole purpose is to teach Marine Recruits how to use a rifle, make adjustments and hit targets from up to 500 yards away.

Semper Fidelis, Marines and Marine Families! Do YOU remember your Family day?

After 12 weeks of training, Family Day is the first time recruits are reunited with their loved ones since leaving for training. Filled with pride and anticipation, families witness their sons and daughters become Marines.

TRUTH! Marine Recruits are given time at the end of the day to reflect their daily accomplishments, prepare for the next day, and correspond with families about what they have done with their very busy days.

At the end of each training day, recruits receive one free hour in the barracks to relax and prepare for the next day. This time is a relief period from the 15 hours of close supervision and instruction from Drill Instructors. Recruits can spend time reading scripture, writing letters or journaling.

Contrary to popular understanding, a VERY huge portion of Marine Corps Boot Camp(Recruit training as we call it) consists of classes about the United States Marine Corps history, financial responsibility, and various subjects. Semper Fi, Motivators out there.

. Private Andrea Pantoja from Terra Linda High School earned the title of Marine by graduating Marine Corps Recruit Training Parris Island, SC. She will continue on at Marine Combat Training, NC and finish by getting certified as a communications specialist at Twentynine Palms Ca.

This Marine used his G.I. Bill, and life lessons learned in the Marine Corps to push himself to become a success in his dream of becoming an actor.

After stints selling vacuums door-to-door and other odd jobs, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actor Adam Driver was among the first to go see a Marine Corps recruiter after the Sept. 11 attacks, signing up for the infantry.
