National Grid has scheduled two upcoming planned power interruptions that are going to impact all customers fed from the Norwood substation and Norfolk substation. The first is on Monday, July 8th around 5 p.m. for approximately 5 minutes. The second is scheduled for Thursday, July 11 around 5 p.m. and will also be about 5 minutes.

The outage is necessary to allow repair work to be completed.

All impacted customers will be notified via outbound phone call next week.

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that the Norwood Vol. Fire Department informs you of the death of our life time member of 62 1/2 years of dedicated service to the Norwood Vol. Fire Department, Dwight Gibson aka “Gump”, who passed away early this morning. We will all miss Gump more than words can express. Our condolences go out to the Gibson family.

Good morning, as many know it’s that time of the year that school is back in session. We just want to remind everybody that this means children will be waiting at bus stops, crossing the street, and the school buses will be in full swing again. We understand that most of us are atrocious at time management and run late just about every morning and choose to blame how much later we are on the people who drive 15 under the speed limit. Anyway, be mindful that you may encounter school buses now. They have a job to do and while it certainly does not make the morning any better getting stuck behind one, be patient. That’s somebody doing their job, and that’s somebody’s child getting on it. Don’t be rude, don’t drive erratically around them, and under no circumstances go around them when they are stopped and the red lights are flashing. We wish all returning students a successful and enjoyable school year!
