Norwood Health Department The mission of the Health Department is to protect and improve the health and environment for all.

The Health Department protects the residents of Norwood by maintaining and creating conditions that keep people healthy. This includes:

-Investigating health problems and health threats.
-Preventing, minimizing and containing adverse health effects from communicable disease, disease outbreaks, chronic disease, environmental hazards, injuries and risky health behaviors.
-Planning and collaborating

with other emergency partners for public health emergencies.
-Implementing health promotion programs and engaging with the community

The job of the Heath Department also includes ensuring compliance with public health laws and ordinances, and using enforcement authority when appropriate. These duties are met by conducting inspections, processing permits, investigating diseases outbreaks and disease trends, conducting clinics, partnering with local, state and federal agencies, and providing information to the community. The Boardnof Health and the Health Department strive to keep Norwood at the forefront of local public health by keeping up to date on health issues and providing new services that reflect the changes in the public health landscape.
