The radar is showing some severe thunderstorms heading our way. These systems can pop up fast, so if you are planning on hanging out on the quad or running the lakes, you need to be ready to pivot.

Keep a close eye on your weather apps. It only takes a few minutes for a clear sky to turn dangerous, so having a designated indoor backup space ready to go is a smart move.

Oh, to be a comfort K9 in a duck robe.

Finn has officially clocked out for his scheduled rest day, and honestly, the vibe is immaculate.

No petting. No photos. Just pure, unadulterated napping.

It is easy to forget that taking a break is a skill. Hard work requires real rest to match it. That is your cue to finally close the 47 open tabs on your laptop.

We will be out here patrolling the campus and keeping things quiet so you, and Finn, can get some peace.

We are back with another National Safety Month tip, and this week focuses on your well-being.

True safety includes your mental and emotional health, not just avoiding physical injuries.

Try the 90-minute reset today. Step away from your desk every hour and a half for a quick five-minute walk to clear your mind and lower stress.

Keep an eye on your teammates too, because a quick check-in with an overwhelmed coworker can make a massive difference.

A few of our officers took a quick road trip out to Valparaiso this week. They went to check out the new Northern Indiana Law Enforcement Academy facility.

Our team got a firsthand look at their new training spaces. We are always working to keep our skills sharp before everyone floods back to campus for move in day.

While we were there, we had to hunt down a very specific piece of the new building.

It is a permanent little piece of Notre Dame pride sitting out in Valpo. Solid as a rock.

Our V***r Wake K9s are trained for the toughest security environments, but the Notre Dame squirrels might be their biggest challenge yet.

This video of Boomer and Barkley perfectly captures their personality. They are incredibly focused, even when the campus wildlife is completely unfazed by them.

Behind the cute video is some serious science. These dogs are trained in V***r Wake technology, meaning they can detect microscopic scent particles left behind in a person’s thermal wake. Unlike traditional explosive detection dogs that sniff static objects, Boomer and Barkley are trained to track items moving through active, dense crowds.

It takes months of intense training for them to get certified. They are an incredible asset to our campus safety team, keeping our community secure during massive gamedays and quiet summer days alike.

It is week two of National Safety Month, and today we are talking about our campus roads. With thousands of pedestrians, bikes, and cars sharing the same pavement, a little patience is essential.

Drivers, remember that pedestrians always have the right of way, especially near residence halls. When passing a cyclist, give them at least three feet of space. Please avoid honking at them, because a sudden blast of a horn can startle a rider and cause a serious crash.

Holy Cross Drive on the south side of campus will close for a major resurfacing project starting Monday, June 8. The closure runs from Dorr Road near Burke Golf Course to the Main Gate, meaning you will need to use East Gate to access campus. Construction is expected to continue through the month of July.

Welcome home, Irish!

Reunion Weekend is officially here, and we are so excited to welcome thousands of alumni back to campus today. Whether you graduated five years ago or fifty years ago, Notre Dame is always home.

You will see our officers out and about all weekend long helping with traffic, directing parking, and making sure everything runs smoothly. Our main goal is keeping campus safe so you can focus on catching up with old roommates, visiting your favorite campus spots, and reliving those best college memories.

If you need directions, have a question about parking, or just want to say hello, please flag down any of our officers. We love hearing your favorite stories from back in the day.

Have an incredible weekend, enjoy the beautiful campus, and welcome back to the ND family!

June is National Safety Month, and every Monday we are dropping a new tip to keep our campus safe.

Let's start with those "close calls" we usually just shrug off. Maybe you tripped over a loose computer cord in the lab but caught your balance. That is a near-miss, and it is a free warning.

When you report those minor hazards to Risk Management, we can fix them before someone actually gets hurt.

Safety is a daily habit we build together. Report here: https://go.nd.edu/GoodCatch
