Debbie is the obvious choice for Region 3. A retired schoolteacher, a former OASD parent, and now a senior citizen taxpayer- she checks all the boxes. She doesn’t fear monger or lie to her constituents, she doesn’t stand behind those who call our dedicated teachers “groomers”. She wants what’s best for ALL our students, teachers, families, and stakeholders.

I shared this post back during Teacher Appreciation Week, but I wanted to reshare it because I feel it’s more important than ever for our teachers to know there are those who support and back them 1,000%.

On Tuesday, make sure to vote for school board candidates that back and support our teachers. Warren4OASD, Tenille4OASD, DebbieV4OASD, 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙖 𝙃𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙊𝙭𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝘽𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙, and myself unequivocally stand with and support our teachers, and will do everything we can once elected to show that support.

As this year’s Teacher Appreciation Week starts next week, I want to unequivocally voice my support for all our teachers and paraprofessionals in Oxford Area School District.

Our teachers are at the very heart of OASD, second only to our students. They tirelessly pour themselves into not only teaching their academic topics, but also, I would argue, teaching even more important things… things like kindness, compassion, helpfulness, growth, dependability, self-confidence, and so much more. They help shape our students into caring, contributing members of our community. They are often overworked, underpaid, and exhausted. They stay up late not only doing lesson plans, but worrying about whether their students had enough to eat. They spend their own personal money to ensure our children have the very best learning experience. Teachers cheer their students on not only in their studies, but in every other aspect of the child’s life.

Unfortunately, our teachers are under attack by people who seek to undermine the very reason they became teachers: because they care. They are verbally accosted, secondarily questioned on “motives”, and accused of being “sexual groomers” by some of our very own school board members and candidates. And all of this while they continue to nurture and love our students, without letting on a hint of it to our children. This is not okay! Our teachers deserve our respect and support.

I want our teachers to know that there are parents and members of the community who stand with them, who believe in them, who will continue to support them despite these growing attacks. I am one of those people. If you are too, I’m counting on you to vote not party lines, but what REALLY matters- making sure we are providing the absolute best learning environment we can at OASD and supporting our teachers in the process.

4 DAYS!

Tuesday is Election Day! Have you made plans to vote? Polls will be open on Tuesday from 7a to 8p.

Some important points to make note of:

📚 If you’re voting by mail in ballot, remember to return it to the drop off at Oxford Public Library! You can check the receipt status of your ballot online. And if you don’t make it to drop it off before Tuesday, no worries- you can still vote in person!

✏️ Do you need help getting to the polls? Know a neighbor who might need help? Let us know- we are happy to help arrange rides for those who need them.

🎓 Are you interested in volunteering and helping out the amazing school board candidates at the polls? We need you! We need passionate parents and stakeholders to talk to voters, pass out palm cards, and help spread the word on why this election is so important. Send me a message if you’re interested in helping- even an hour or 2 makes a HUGE difference!

🚌 And even if you aren’t able to help at the polls in person, you can still make a difference. Talk to your neighbors, talk to the other parents you know from OASD, share the candidate posts, help spread the word as much as you can.

This election is SO important. Let’s make sure our district is a thriving, vibrant, accepting, wonderful one. And the way to do that- to truly protect ALL kids and ensure a top notch education for every child- is to make sure you vote. Warren4OASD, Tenille4OASD, DebbieV4OASD, 𝙍𝙚𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙖 𝙃𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙊𝙭𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝘽𝙤𝙖𝙧𝙙, and myself are the candidates that will ensure those things and make sure our school district keeps moving forward into the future, not fall back into the past.

Make a plan to vote on Tuesday. Our kids deserve no less.

My apologies for not making it to First Friday this evening- I had to take a side trip with my youngest to AI. Thankfully all is well, and my family appreciates family and friends who reached out today (and this past week) to check on us.
Knowing we have a community surrounding us when it’s needed most- a community like Oxford- is incredible and only makes me want to give back to this town even more❤️
