🚨Man Arrested for Auto Theft, Evading, & Conspiracy

Last night (4/5), Novato Police Officers responded to a reported vehicle theft in progress on Arthur Street. Upon arrival, a white sedan drove away from the scene and ran into a patrol vehicle as it exited the area.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled at high speed into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was later found unoccupied on Pioneer Court after colliding with a parked vehicle. Officers found discarded burglary tools leading toward Pioneer Park, indicating the suspects had fled on foot.

With assistance from the Marin County Sheriff's Office, officers established a perimeter and deployed a drone during the search. One suspect was identified as Eric Ramirez, a 20-year-old Oakland resident and was safely taken into custody. Despite an extensive search, three additional suspects remain outstanding. The recovered vehicle was confirmed to be stolen out of Oakland and towed from the scene.

Eric Ramirez was booked in the Marin County jail for several crimes including auto theft, reckless driving, evading, possessing stolen property, and conspiracy to commit crime. The investigation remains open and is ongoing.

We are thankful the teamwork between our officers and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office as they were able to safely intervene in this situation and potentially stop other crimes from occurring. If anyone has additional information relating to this case, please call 415-897-4361 or email [email protected] and reference case -0879. This is a good reminder to report suspicious activity by calling us immediately. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.

Stay safe Novato!
