Nowata CAN Community Advancement Network www.nowatacan.org The purpose of Nowata CAN is to improve the health of the citizens of Nowata County.

CAN works with and has board members from 12 sectors of the community including: Parents, Business, Media, Education, Health and Youth. Together we are supporting our community by educating about the prevention of disease and drug abuse, and improving the health and well-being of our residents through healthy lifestyle choices.

As we celebrate this Independence Day, we encourage everyone in our community to enjoy the holiday safely and responsibly. Fireworks, cookouts, and gatherings can be fun, but they also come with risks—especially when alcohol is involved.

This 4th of July, consider these safe celebration tips:

Choose alcohol-free activities for family and community events

Encourage open conversations about the risks of underage drinking

Be a positive role model by celebrating without substances

Keep gatherings safe and inclusive for all ages

Watch out for one another and offer support if someone needs help
