Nowata County Commissioners have extended the BURN BAN in the County until September 14 2026.

[6:35A - 8/22/26] We continue to closely monitor strong storms currently in central OK, just west of the forecast area. These storms may still drift into parts of E. OK (mainly west of Highway 75) over the next few hours. Heavy rainfall and gusty winds in excess of 50 mph will be possible.

Nowata County Commissioners approved a COUNTY BURN BAN effective today until August 30, when it will be reviewed. Exceptions are noted for business use of equipment and personal cooking on a fireproof pad.

Is this the Ground Hog Day movie??? Another Saturday storm watch ... stay weather aware. It looks like we are on the fringe at least, and that it may pass us by, which would be the best idea ... have your phones charged and your weather warnings activated.

A T-Storm Watch is in place until 10 PM tonight for the areas in blue. Just stay weather aware and head indoors if a storm approaches your location. Main threats would be wind to 75mph and quarter size hail.

Since the damage to individuals and homes in Nowata County doesn't meet thresholds to declare a disaster, there are limited ways to assist. This may be of assistance to those of you who are looking for resources - we are continuing to try to locate ways that we can assist with recovery.
