**UPDATE**
Meany Surrendered himself to The Nowata County Sheriffs Department on July 27th. Meany Posted Bond and was released.
On May 29, 2024 the Nowata County Sheriff's Office was requested to an address in western Nowata County to investigate the theft of walnut trees. After an investigation, Robert Meany Jr. 37 of Nowata was charged in Nowata County District Court with four felony counts of illegally cutting down walnut trees on August 7, 2024.
On July 16, 2026 the Nowata County Sheriff's Office and the Nowata Police Department assisted the U.S Fish and Wildlife Department with the service of two search warrants in the investigation of stolen walnut trees. The search warrants were served in eastern Nowata County and at an apartment in the City of Nowata. Evidence was obtained to further this investigation.
On July 21, 2026 Robert Meany Jr. failed to appear in court for a plea hearing. An arrest warrant was issued for Meany and he is now wanted for his failure to appear. If anyone sees Meany or knows where he is please call 911 or the Nowata County Sheriff's Office.
