We’re committed to keeping Nyack a vibrant, welcoming place to live, work, and visit. Website: www.nyack.gov Welcome to the page for the Village of Nyack! This page has been created to keep you informed of what's going on in Nyack Village government. Members of the Village Board and department heads from the Village, as well as our land use boards will provide new and important informatio

n to all of you in a timely fashion. Questions will be answered as quickly as we can. Feel free to comment, post events and ask questions. Vigorous dialog is what makes democracy work--but be forewarned: personal attacks and profanity of any kind (including acronyms!) will not be tolerated and will result in the deletion of the entire comment. Please, in the name of the community we all love, let's make this a productive page, one that works toward communication and problem solving. Nyack is such a great place, we are united in our love of our Village, so let's work together to fix the things we feel need fixing and to discuss the things we are concerned about and to share information in a timely and respectful fashion. Please note that brush bags will be picked up on Wednesday.

Our DPW team is currently short-staffed as several employees are working on the sinkhole at the DPW facility. We appreciate your patience and understanding as our crews work to keep up with collection while addressing this important emergency repair.

Storm update from Village of Nyack operational view. This extreme rainfall overwhelmed parts of our stormwater system, with water coming up out of storm drains, some storm drain covers displaced, temporary flooding on Main Street, Piermont Ave and other locations. DPW has been working to address safety issues and following up on reports from Orangetown Police. Our DPW garage flooded. O&R outage map shows homes without electricity south of Main Street into South Nyack. Customers should call O&R to report outages. Please report road safety concerns in Nyack to the DPW 845-358-3552. There was a car accident at the corner of Main and Franklin during the storm. Thank you to first responders who cared for the injured. Thank you to Nyack resident Kate Buggeln for developing this helpful information post to support our community’s efforts to reduce rats.

The Village’s work has focused largely on the commercial downtown area, including educating—and when necessary, penalizing—property owners who fail to provide effective trash containment, reliable trash removal, and appropriate pest control.
Residential properties are also a critical part of the solution. Rats do not recognize property lines, and unsecured garbage, available food, overgrown vegetation, entry points into buildings, and untreated infestations can affect an entire neighborhood.

Please take a few minutes to review the flyer and consider what you can do around your own property to help keep Nyack clean, healthy, and rat-free.

Thank you again, Kate, for helping move this community-wide effort forward
