Dry thunderstorms are expected over the next couple of days across Southwestern Oregon and Northern California. Any lightning strikes will have the potential to start new wildfires. These storms are expected to begin today on the East side and spread west towards the coast on Sunday and Monday. Remember to follow wildfire prevention and safety tips: call 911 to report wildfires; follow all local laws when using equipment such as lawn mowers, chainsaws and off-road vehicles; be a responsible camper and build safe campfires. OSP INVESTIGATING INJURY SHOOTING INCIDENT IN SOUTHERN JOSEPHINE COUNTY

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the Sunday morning shooting injury to an adult male on property near O'Brien in southern Josephine County.

Preliminary investigation indicates on October 28, 2012 at approximately 10:40 a.m., OSP patrol troopers, OSP Criminal Investigation Division detectives and Illinois Valley Fire District personnel responded to a report that a 36-year old man was shot in the leg by an unidentified person while outside on his property in the 1700 block of Lone Mountain Road in the O'Brien area. The man was transported by AMR Ambulance to Three River Community Hospital in Grants Pass where he was treated and released. The man's dog was also shot and injured and is being treated by an area veterinarian.

O'BRIEN, Ore. (AP) -- There's no room in the county jail for burglars and thieves. And the sheriff's department in a vast, rural corner of southwest Oregon has been reduced by budget cuts to three deputies on patrol eight hours a day, five days a week.
