Preparedness is not a closet full of supplies. It is the ability to make a good decision quickly - when the power is out, roads are blocked, alerts conflict, or family members are separated. This National Preparedness Month, we are moving beyond the basics.

Each day, take one practical action: identify a safe room, protect a medication, map a flood-free route, learn how to shut off a utility (or teach the kids), or talk through where you would reunite. Small actions practiced now become calm, confident choices later. Americans Stand Ready - and readiness starts at home.

🚗 NEVER leave people or animals in a car, temperatures can get over 100 degrees very quickly

We are now accepting applications for the 2026 Emergency Preparedness Citizen Academy.

This class provides actionable information to help citizens prepare themselves and their families for disasters. In addition you will learn about the disaster declaration process and what forms of assistance may or may not be available to you following a major disaster.

It's time to:
💧 Drink water
🌳 Find shade
❄️ Take breaks indoors
🐾 Protect pets from hot surfaces

Remember: Pavement temperatures can be much hotter than the air temperature.
