A local contractor reported a scam this week to the Sheriff's Office. The scam involves an individual that owns a house and needs some work on it. The Individual wanting the work done will pay a deposit, but will overpay and want the overpayment sent to another account. This is a scam because the deposit will not be a valid deposit.
The area code of the Individual is 361, which comes back to Southern Texas.
BEWARE OF SCAMMERS. If it seems too good to be true, it is.
