All teaching and learning at Brook Forest Elementary and Butler Junior High School will take place remotely on Friday, January 23, 2026. School buildings will be closed on Friday, January 23rd to prevent travel to and from school.

The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning for DuPage County through 12:00 PM on Friday. The region is anticipating dangerously low temperatures and wind chills, especially during anticipated drop-off times.

Join us for a Ribbon Cutting event on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 8:30 AM at Brook Forest Elementary. We look forward to seeing you there and debuting our finished playground!

District 53 was awarded federal funding through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to support the academic and developmental needs of students with disabilities. In alignment with this funding's intent and priorities, we purchased new student furniture for the Cove located at Brook Forest. This fully grant funded investment supports our ongoing efforts to create inclusive, supportive, and effective learning environments for all students. Comfortable and flexible lounge furniture in the Cove can significantly enhance reading and learning by promoting focus, collaboration, and a sense of well-being. Make sure to check it out!

Our teachers and staff have spent two full days reconnecting, learning, and preparing for the upcoming school year. Now, final preparations are underway for the first day of school on Monday. We hope you have had a wonderful summer and look forward to starting the 2025-2026 school year!

Butler School District 53 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul O'Malley was interviewed by CBS Chicago to discuss the partnership with Oak Brook Police Department and the first of its kind in the State of Illinois additional layered safety measure.

The Oak Brook police drone serves as an eye in the sky before police can get to a scene, and has already helped police crack down on crimes.
