As of approximately 1:45pm Mr. Miles was located. It was not the outcome that we desired and the West Carroll Sheriff's Office extends our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends. Also the West Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office would like to thank everyone who responded with support, help and boots on the ground for the search. It was definitely heartwarming to see such an outpouring.

Missing Person

At approximately 8:30pm on Friday July 31st, the West Carroll Sheriff's Office received a call in reference to a person "lost in the woods". Deputies responded to Hwy 134 east of Epps and began a search for 77-year-old Jack Alan Miles of Epps, LA. Mr. Miles is wheelchair bound and navigated the wooded area and trails where he resides, on a golf cart. The golf cart was located, but at this time Mr. Miles remains missing. The West Carroll Sheriff's Office is asking that anyone who may have seen or talked to Mr. Miles in the last 48 hours, to please call the West Carroll Sheriff's Office @ 318-428-2331. Mr. Miles is not connected to or believed to be traveling in any specific vehicle.

***FOUND*** *** Owner of the farm chemical has been located***

The West Carroll Sheriff's Office litter abatement crew has located farm chemicals that appear to have fallen off a truck or trailer. Two different types of chemicals were located roadside in the Allen Road area. If you have lost farm chemicals, please call the West Carroll Sheriff's Office at 318-428-2331 and name the chemicals and approximate amount.

NOTICE!!

The scammers are back at it again!! Calling West Carroll citizens and asking for money in lieu of arrest. If you receive one of these calls, please hang up and do not engage the caller. The West Carroll Sheriff's Office will NEVER call anyone asking for money in lieu of arrest, whether it be local or Federal. That's just not the way it works! HANG UP!! Do not engage the caller, they will take your money which cannot be recovered!

Please be aware, as of this morning Hwy 2 West at Colewa Bridge (RedWing) will be closed until July 2nd. East and Westbound traffic at Colewa Bridge will be detoured around the bridge closure. DOTD will be performing work at this location.

If you receive a telephone call that shows up as "Sheriff's Office" or possibly in one of our Deputy's names and the caller goes on to tell you that you have a warrant for missing court and must pay money to avoid being arrested, hang up immediately!!

The West Carroll Sheriff's Office will NEVER call you and request money in lieu of being arrested. This is a SCAM that has already claimed one known victim in West Carroll Parish. Please report any call you may receive like this to the West Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office, 318-428-2331.

Looks Like It Passed. No More Inspection Stickers. House Bill 1085 passed 27-7 in the Senate. Apparently the inspection sticker will be replaced by a $6 QR Code, mailed out with the vehicle owner's registration. Commercial vehicles and school buses will still require vehicle inspections. The new system is scheduled for Jan 1, 2027, with enforcement of the old system stopping after June 30, 2026.
