The Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department is proud to welcome five new firefighters.

Firefighter Walden, Firefighter Sandoval, Firefighter Ruiz, Firefighter Miller, and Firefighter Perez (not pictured) have successfully completed their initial training. We commend their dedication, professionalism and hard work throughout this process.

We appreciate their commitment to public safety and coming to the City of Oak Grove to serve. We are happy to see them accomplish their goals along the way and offer our support.

Tonight members participated in some hands on search and rescue of a victim training while blindfolded. This training helps members to get familiar with entering a structure to perform a search when there is limited to no visibility due to smoke. It also helps in getting members used to communicating with the rest of their crew as well as with command outside of the structure.

Tonight members got some hands on training performing vehicle extrication techniques. It's rare that we're able to obtain vehicles to practice on, so we took advantage of it while we had the opportunity and the heat even backed off a little bit for us. 🚨Oak Grove Fire Department is currently on the scene of a semi-truck fire on I-24 near Exit 86 eastbound

⚠️Expect heavy delays and potential lane closures in the area while emergency crews work to extinguish the fire and clear the scene.

⚠️Use caution when approaching Exit 86. Slow down, stay alert, and watch for emergency crew. Seek alternate routes if possible to avoid traffic backups.
