VAQ-144 is honored to have been awarded Carrier Air Wing One’s “Golden Wrench” award for outstanding maintenance. CAPT Converse was able to present the award on the flight deck of earlier this week in front of the whole squadron. Additionally, it turns out there are fun and games on deployment! VAQ-144 sailors recently voted for certain members of the Main Battery leadership to wash 500 in preparation for our command photo (coming soon). Commanding Officer CDR B. H. In a time honored tradition of Naval Aviation, the Main Battery recently conducted an airborne change of command. Commander Brant Schmall relieved Commander Jason Windom as Commanding Officer, Electronic Attack Squadron ONE FOUR FOUR. CDR Windom’s tireless dedication to the squadron over the last 3 years will continue to be an example to all of our sailors and aviators while paving the road forward for future generations of Devils! The Main Battery recently completed another milestone with the end of Tailored Ship’s Training Availability. In addition to completing dozens of sorties, many of our sailors distinguished themselves as rockstars on the boat with AT3 advancing to AT2 during an abandon ship drill and IT2 being sailor of the day for the whole ship.
