Oak Harbor Youth Coalition

Oak Harbor Youth Coalition OHYC members use local, state and federal data to assess the needs of youth in our community. The public is always welcome to attend!

Through advocacy, awareness, and action, our group of dedicated community volunteers aim to foster an inclusive community culture that strengthens families, reduces substance abuse, and promotes physical, mental and emotional wellness. We then work collaboratively with schools and other agencies to advocate on their behalf. Our goal is identify local risk factors and replace them with protective f

actors wherever possible. We want to give the next generation the tools they need to make healthy choices and lead successful lives. Some of the ways in which we do this is by leveraging state and federal grant funds to implement mentoring programs, parent assistance, motivational speakers, and educating youth & adults about the dangers of substance abuse during a critical time of brain development. We meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month, 5:15pm at the Oak Harbor Fire Station on Whidbey Ave.

Happy Pride month from OHYC! We are proud to support ALL youth, ALL the time. Last month we had the honor to help host Oak Harbor High School’s Glamour and Goth themed Rainbow Prom, along with the awesome humans from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County. It was a joy to see both youth and adults be comfortable showing up as their authentic selves, and we loved playing a role in making it happen! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
