Ladies and gentlemen,

This race for Fayette County Circuit Judge comes down to one simple question:

Who is ready—today—to sit on that bench and get it right?

Not someday. Not after a learning curve.
But on day one.

I have spent over 36 years practicing law, appearing before 100 to 150 different judges, in courtrooms with different expectations, different standards, and different challenges. Appearing before so many judges has allowed me to observe and experience different ways to conduct yourself as judge and how to manage a courtroom.

I have argued cases before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond. I have tried and handled cases throughout West Virginia in both state and federal courts. This is important because you do not get sent to "judge school" where you are taught how to be a judge. You learn how to be a judge from appearing before numerous judges. Through those experiences, you learn how to control your courtroom, how to earn the respect of those in your courtroom and how to decide difficult matters.

That experience matters.

Because it teaches you not just the law—but judgment.
It teaches you how to be fair, how to be consistent, and how to make the hard decisions when they matter most.
But there is something even more important.

I am the only candidate in this race who is currently serving—and has served—as a Circuit Court judge.

I have already done this job.
I have made the rulings.
I have managed the courtroom.
I have supervised courthouse and courtroom staff.
I have carried the responsibility of ensuring that every person who comes before the court is treated with fairness and respect.
That is not theoretical experience.
That is real-world judgment.

I have presided as judge over criminal and civil trials. I have managed grand juries and petit juries. I have presided over 500 hearings.

There is a difference between learning the system…and being tested by it for over three decades.

And there is a difference between wanting to be a judge… and already having proven that you can do the job.
Because the courtroom is not a place for training.
The people deserve a judge who is ready now.

Steady. Experienced. Proven. Calm. Consistent.

I chose a difficult path in my career and I am fully prepared to serve.
And I am serving you now.

I respectfully ask for your vote—not based on promises, but on proven experience… and a record of doing the job the right way.

Thank you.

The Fayette County Adult Treatment Court and Family Treatment Court are changing lives and strengthening families in our communities. These programs provide accountability, structure, treatment, and hope to individuals struggling with addiction while helping families heal and rebuild.

Recovery is not easy, but these courts demonstrate that with hard work, support, and compassion, people can overcome challenges and create a better future for themselves and their children. I am thankful for the dedicated treatment teams, counselors, law enforcement officers, attorneys, and community partners who make these programs possible.

This evening, I had the pleasure of attending the Fayette County Teen Court Awards Dinner at the New River Convention Center. Teen Court is a very educational and worthwhile program that helps teach accountability, responsibility and leadership to our youth.

It was great to see so many participants, parents, friends and volunteers in attendance supporting these young people and their accomplishments. Kristin Perry and Diane Callison have done wonderful things with Teen Court. Thank you to everyone who helps make this important program possible.

During National Police Week, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women in law enforcement who put on the badge each day and serve our communities with courage, professionalism and sacrifice.

We especially remember those officers who gave their lives in the line of duty and pray for the safety of all who continue to serve and protect. Thank you to our local, state and federal law enforcement officers for your dedication to keeping our communities safe. Your service is appreciated more than words can express.
