The Oak Island Police Department is excited to launch our NEW series, helping reunite lost and recovered items with their owners!

More importantly, it offer YOU a chance to help solve the mystery!

HOW IT WORKS:
While exact descriptions of items cannot be given out online, in order to prevent fraudulent ownership claims, each Wednesday a series of "clues" will be posted on the OKInformation page of the Town Website and right here on the Town page. YOU can help share these clues, to help us find the rightful owners.

SEPTEMBER 1, 2026 • RESPONSE NOTICE

Shortly after 6:00 PM, the Town's Public Safety departments responded to a report of an emergency ocean landing by a paramotor pilot. SEPTEMBER 1, 2026 - K9 UNIT UPDATE

Over the last several weeks, the Oak Island Police Department has been sharing updates as we work to reintroduce the K9 Unit to our services provided. This week, we are excited to share TWO new updates in the process!

First off, the names for our two new K9 Officers have officially been selected, and we are pleased to introduce K9 SANDY (female, Chocolate Labrador) and K9 DUNE (male, Black Labrador). Thank you to everyone who participate by providing your suggestions in our earlier posts!
These names are a great fit and will give each K9 a unique identity that reflects our community, but is also personal to them and their handlers.

Speaking of their handlers, this week Officers Beau Boose and Gary Green, who were specifically selected for this program, officially started their 5-week long live-in training course for this unit! This is an exciting step for them both, and an important step forward for the Department.
In a personal letter, Police Chief Charlie Morris expressed his appreciation for their "willingness to take on this responsibility and the commitment that comes with being a K9 handler," adding that he looks forward having all four of them back soon to get the K9 program up and running.

The Department is excited to share this new chapter with the community, and is continuing to document the process to select, train, and deploy these amazingly talented assets. To view and share these updates, simply visit the dedicated page at OakIslandNC.gov/K9

If you love Cardio Dance with Vicki you are in luck. She is starting a Friday morning class in SEPTEMBER. 8:00 AM except the 2nd Friday of each month there will be no class.

Join us on 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 for special Friday night showing of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐱𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐞 shown right here in the Middleton Park Complex!

The event starts at 5:30 PM with brief pre-show activities for the kids, followed by one of Summer's newest and biggest blockbusters on a GIANT 16-foot wide LED video wall ... complete with popcorn, drinks, and candy vendors onsite!

This will hopefully be the start of many 𝑴𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒆 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑰𝒏 𝑴𝒊𝒅𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒕𝒐𝒏 events to come, but we won't know unless YOU show up!
