8th grade parents. All students must wear their cap & gown during our 8th grade graduation in order to participate. We wanted to address some of the non-factual information we've heard.

Good morning, Julian Families:

Can you believe it?! We are down to the last three weeks or so of SY 20-21 and we are looking forward to a wonderful summer of poolside dreams, nature trails, and hopefully, outside festivals and parties.

But, before you head to the beach and cross-country drives, there is something that we really need your input on - the class schedule for next school year. We need to know which is best for your student's learning style..the A/B schedule spread over two calendar days like we've had this year OR return to a schedule of 9 periods of instruction in one calendar day? For our current 6th grade parents who have only experienced middle school under in n A/B structure, please just speak more strongly to whether you would or would not want to return to that (or speak with your community partners that have experienced both :).

Julian Community,

This week we were notified of 4 positive cases (Thursday/Friday). We are bound to follow the Oak Park Department of Health guidelines that state anyone that is a close contact (less than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes) should be notified and quarantine. I am very sad that we have to make tough decisions, however I have to consider the health of over 680 Julian students and their families.

Please know that this is surely not what I want and I am extremely sorry for any inconvenience. I will always place our students safety and security first. If the guidelines change we will surely keep you posted. With roughly 23 days of school remaining I continue to ask for you partnership. We need you now more than ever! Happy Mother’s Day!

An exciting message from Mr. Seymour:

"Please be sure to congratulate the members of Jukebox who have achieved the highest possible rating from the Illinois Grade School Music Association

The students came to 8am Zoom rehearsals all year, often 2-3 times per week to rehearse remotely and learned their music completely on their own.
Due to the requirement that our submission be a "live" performance (and not a virtual recording), we held one 60 minute rehearsal and recording session outside a couple weeks ago (in the drizzling rain!).

These students rose to the challenge and performed three VERY difficult pieces of music with NO IN PERSON REHEARSALS ALL YEAR!!!! This is a task that would be difficult for professional musicians . . . not that they knew that in advance :-)

We learned after the fact that Julian was the only school that was able to submit a recording like this in the Chicago area. Please be sure to congratulate these AMAZING musicians!!"
