For over 30 years, Foundation community grant partner NAMI Metro Suburban has supported individuals experiencing mental health issues, their families, and their caregivers. This spring the organization established the Living Room, a new mental health support resource, at 816 Harrison Street in Oak Park (other Living Rooms are located in Summit and LaGrange). Living Room guests meet with a peer who is a state-certified support specialist and in recovery themselves. After a risk assessment, they’re provided with directions for managing their condition, access to calm spaces, receptive listeners, and other resources. Learn more about the program here:

The OPRF Community Foundation believes good grows here, and part of that includes planting the seeds for philanthropy young. Come grow with us!

We are currently seeking a dynamic, organized and mission-driven person to serve as program coordinator of the Future Philanthropists Program, which teaches the art, science and business of philanthropy to local high school juniors and seniors with an emphasis on critical thinking and people skills.

This person will lead the planning, facilitation and delivery of the FPP program during the 10-month school year. This person will manage all aspects of the program including student enrollment, mentor communication, preparing for and facilitating monthly thematic learning sessions, interfacing with nonprofit organizations as grant applicants, cultivating donor and stakeholder participation, facilitating volunteer activities and tending to logistical and administrative tasks that support the above. This person will also collaborate closely with the Foundation staff to ensure effective program coordination and support.

Under the Illinois Gives tax credit program, qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) made to a permanent endowment fund maintained by the Foundation earn state tax credits of up to 25%. What’s more, you can transfer up to $111,000 per year directly from your IRA to a qualified charity without counting the distribution as taxable income!
