To my Illinois based friends. Please call your local State Legislators today to protect funding for your local libraries.

Senate Bill 851, the property tax freeze bill, could severely hurt Illinois libraries. The Illinois House is scheduled to vote on the freeze today. It is critical that you contact your legislators immediately to urge them to vote against the bill. View the Illinois Library Association's (ILA) e-newsletter article below for talking points and a link to legislators names and phone numbers. The Illinois General Assembly is in their second week of a veto session, and therefore legislators must be called at their Springfield offices.

As the Illinois General Assembly prepares to convene for the second week of the veto session, state legislators must be contacted in their Springfield offices. If you don't know your legislators names or Springfield phone numbers, please go the ILA website.

Please consider spending your morning on November 11th learning about the benefits and challenges of growth and development in Oak Park. The event is open and free to the public and will be a chance to connect with OP elected officials and meet your neighbors.

If you are heading to Oak Park Avenue for the Halloween Parade this morning stop by the Early Childhood Resource Fair at the Oak Park Public Library on the 2nd floor until 11:30 a.m. today. Lots of great resources.

The polls are closed and the waiting begins. I'm so grateful to my husband, Matt Glavin for his kindness and patience and to my tireless family and friends. The best moment of the day has to be Claire helping complete my ballot and voting for "us." I get the feeling this won't be the last time the Glavin girls will be on the ballot.

I continue to be impressed every day by the friends and family who have gone above and beyond to help me in my race for Library Board. Even in the middle of working her tail off to support Jackie Traynere for Mayor, my friend Will County Board member Elizabeth Rice helped create a video to help tell my story. Special thanks to her son Eric! I love my IWIL sisters!

I am running for Oak Park Library Board Trustee to inspire learning and create more connections in our community. I will do this by enhancing the library's role as a community center and investing in our young adults in partnership with other village service providers.

Thank you all for your wonderful help distributing yard signs. I am down to the last few so please let me know if your yard could use a little flair. As the Wednesday Journal shared today, it is a packed field with a lot of great energy around the race. Consider voting early at Village Hall if you live in Oak Park, early voting began on Monday and runs through April 1st.

It was only a few election cycles back when the Oak Park Library Board of Trustees had so few running for seats they had to urge a resident to enter the race as a write-in candidate.

So proud of my campaign manager in training today. Claire was so excited to share flyers while joining her classmates to support the Yes Yes KIDS' MARCH for D97 Referenda. I was blown away by the talented kids who shared their stories. Thanks for letting us borrow your sign Elizabeth Jarpe-Ratner.

Thank you to the League of Women Voters of Oak Park & River Forest for hosting a candidate forum last night. It was a great dialogue. They are generously sharing videos of each candidate forum including uncontested races through their website. Please share with your friends and family. http://www.lwvoprf.org/voter-services.html
