Public Safety Millage Renewal 💙💙💙

On the upcoming Tuesday, August 4 primary ballot, Oak Park voters will consider the Public Safety Millage Renewal. It is important to highlight that this is not a tax increase. A "yes" vote simply renews the existing funding structure already in place, ensuring your tax rate does not go up.

The purpose of this renewal is to keep our current public safety staffing and services fully on par. Dedicated funding from this millage directly sustains the day-to-day operations of our police, fire, and emergency medical services (EMS), preventing any interruptions to the community protection and rapid emergency response times our residents rely on.

We encourage all residents to review the facts before heading to the polls this August. To learn more about how this renewal stabilizes local emergency resources, please review the official Public Safety Millage Fact Sheet and/or contact city administration with any questions

Tuesday the SAFE WAY 💧

During intense storms, take a simple step to protect what matters—keep your valuables off the basement floor and stored safely above potential flood levels.

Starting Saturday, June 6, communities across Southeast Michigan will celebrate Great Lakes and Fresh Water Week. This annual initiative highlights the incredible privilege of living near the world’s largest freshwater system—and the shared responsibility that comes with it.

As we celebrate, we’re also focusing on resilience. With heavier and more frequent rain events becoming the norm, it’s important for residents and communities to prepare now to reduce risks later.💙💙💙

✅ Protect your home
✅ Stay informed
✅ Be storm-ready

Let’s honor our water resources by staying safe, prepared, and resilient together.

Connecting with the Community💙🩶

Sure, we’ve got an ice cream truck—because who doesn’t love ice cream? 🍦
But this is about so much more. It’s about building real connections, bringing people together, and creating moments that matter. The ice cream is just the cherry on top!🍒🍒🍒

**🚨 Public Safety Update: Family Fun Fest Rescheduled to Sept. 12 for Weather Safety 🌧️**

Due to expected thunderstorms and high winds, Saturday’s Family Fun Fest has been postponed out of an abundance of caution. With outdoor setups and large crowds, these conditions present safety risks we cannot overlook.

We appreciate the community’s understanding as we prioritize the safety of residents, vendors, and staff. Please help us spread the word and join us on the new date—September 12—for a safe and enjoyable event.

🚨 June 6th Family Fun Fest Delayed for Safety — New Date: September 12 🚨

Out of an abundance of caution, and with safety as our top priority, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule this Saturday’s Family Fun Fest on 9 Mile. 💔

While forecasts vary on the exact timing of the rain, many models are predicting scattered thunderstorms and high winds. Because this is a fully outdoor event featuring metal tents, we cannot safely operate under these conditions.

👉 New Date: Mark your calendar for September 12, and join us for a fun “last hurrah” around back-to-school!

We’re so grateful to our incredible vendors, volunteers, and sponsors, and we truly appreciate your understanding. Please help spread the word and save the date for September!
