This morning I took the oath of office for a six-year term as a Cook County Circuit Court Judge after being elected in November to the judicial position to which I was appointed in June of 2015. I am so grateful to my family, friends, and colleagues for all of their support.
I think so very often of my parents and all that they did for me. While "Ollie and Bill" are no longer with us, their support and guidance remains with me every day. Mom and Dad were common yet very sophisticated people. They emphasized decency, honesty, and hard work like so many other parents. Where I believe they exceled, however, was in their unique form of motivation toward my sister Anne T. Sullivan and me to strive for personal and professional success without unduly pressuring us. My Father, in particular, was very accomplished at establishing relationships and creating a positive personal connection with others. My Mother always exhibited an unwavering and non-negotiable duty of loyalty to friends and family. I try every day to live up to Mom's and Dad's standards.
My wife, Cheryl Sullivan, our children (Cali Sullivan, Patrick, and Megan), and I are truly blessed and fortunate. Thank you, Dear Friends and Family, for everything.
Bill
