In honor of Earth Day City Staff and the Oak Point Parks and Recreation Commission invite you to join us on Wednesday April 22nd at 9am near the Pavillion at Jakes Place Park. Wewill have a small tree‑planting ceremony in celebration of Earth Day. Wildflower seed packets will be available at the ceremony and inside City Hall for residents while supplies last.

We hope you’ll join us as we come together to celebrate and care for our community and environment.

April 11th from 1:00-2:30pm at Jakes Place Park Pavillion-100 Naylor Road-Oak Point.
The City of Oak Point Parks & Recreation Commission and Sabal Kings of Texas are hosting Palms in the park workshop. The cost of this workshop is $25.00
If you love the look of lush, tropical foliage but thought it wasn’t possible in North Texas, this seminar will change everything you think you know 🌴❄️➡️🌴

Weather update
January 28, 8:15am Overnight temperatures dropped back down into the 20s, refreezing any melted ice and snow. With the refreeze and freezing fog in some areas of Denton County, patches of black ice are likely until temperatures climb above freezing. Avoid travel if possible and use extreme caution if travel is necessary. Temps will climb into the low 40s today however we will drop back down into the low 30s tonight, refreezing any moisture left on the roadways.

‼️City offices will be closed today (Wednesday January 28th) due to continued hazardous road conditions.
‼️Republic Services is suspending this week's trash pickup. Regular trash service will resume on Monday February 2, alongside the quarterly bulk/brush pickup. Please have all items for pickup at the curb by 7am on Monday, February 2nd.

Although we did see some of the snow and ice melt this afternoon, we didn't see the much-needed sun. Temperatures will return to below freezing tonight freezing everything that started to thaw out.
Roads will remain hazardous and black ice is likely on untreated surfaces. Slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time for your commute if travel is necessary.

Temperatures remain below freezing this morning but by mid to late afternoon conditions should improve as the snow and ice begin to melt. This morning
roads remain hazardous with ice, sleet, and snow, and black ice is likely on untreated surfaces.
Freezing fog is possible this evening, reducing visibility and causing light ice. Slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time for your commute if travel is necessary.

‼️City offices will be closed today (Tuesday January 27th) due to inclement weather.
‼️Republic Services will run the week with a delay of two days. Monday service will run on Wednesday and Republic Services will continue with that schedule until routes are completed. If there is a delayed start on Wednesday, please be patient, service will be provided as quickly as possible for the remainder of the week. Please keep in mind, this schedule could change depending on road conditions throughout the week.

Weather update
January 26, 6pm
Extremely cold temperatures will continue through Tuesday morning. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly above freezing Tuesday afternoon. Even though precipitation has ended, hazardous driving conditions remain across Denton County. Any snow or ice that has melted today will refreeze tonight, creating dangerous black ice on roads, bridges, sidewalks, and parking lots, especially overnight and early Tuesday morning. Please avoid travel if possible.
