Yesterday marked an exciting milestone for the City of Oak Point and our Emergency Medical Service! Through the generosity and partnership of Denton County and Siddons-Martin Emergency Group, Oak Point became the first city in the county to receive one of eight new Braun Chief XL ambulances being distributed to strengthen emergency medical service coverage in areas with identified service gaps. The ambulances were made possible through funding provided by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), reflecting Denton County's continued commitment to investing in public safety and serving communities across the county.
Mayor Dena Meek, Councilmembers Paul Bastiach, Larry D'Amato, and Greg Weiler, City Manager Noah A. Simon, Fire Chief Whitten, and Fire Battalion Chief’s Olson and Sansig attended the presentation ceremony at Denton County Commissioners Court. On behalf of the City of Oak Point and our residents, we express heartfelt gratitude to County Judge the Honorable Andy Eads, Commissioners Ryan Williams, Kevin Falconer, Bobbie Mitchell, and Dianne Edmondson, Fire Marshal Chief Brad Sebastian, and the entire Denton County team for their leadership, partnership, and dedication to improving emergency services for communities throughout Denton County.
Receiving this ambulance is more than just adding a new vehicle to our fleet. It is an investment in the health, safety, and well-being of Oak Point residents. This new unit will enhance our ability to provide timely, high-quality emergency medical care and help ensure that our first responders have the tools they need when every second counts.
We are deeply thankful to Denton County for this extraordinary loan and for the collaborative spirit that continues to strengthen our community. Together, we are building a safer and more resilient future for Oak Point.
