Upcoming Meeting Information for the Town of Oak Ridge
FOR THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 26, 2026:

*In-person early voting at Oak Ridge Town Hall continues through 3pm on Saturday, October 31, 2026. You may vote at any early voting site in Guilford County during the early voting period (visit www.ncsbe.gov for information). You must vote at your assigned polling place on election day, November 3, 2026. You must have a valid photo id to vote.*

The MST Committee will meet in person on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 6:00pm in the conference room at Town Hall.

🎃 Keep Halloween fun—and safe! 👻

With tricks and treats aplenty, Halloween night also brings crowds of costumed children onto darkening streets just as evening commuters head home. Here are some tips to help keep everyone safe:

🚗Expect the unexpected child who darts into the road or emerges from behind parked cars. Shorter children can be hidden by SUVs, and Halloween festivities mean more street parking.
🚸 Slow down and yield early to pedestrians to build space for the child who missteps off a curb.
⚠️ Drop kids off at curbs where possible and turn on the hazard lights while stopped.
💡 Turn on full headlights, don’t rely on daytime running lights which light only the front of the car at reduced intensity leaving taillights dark. Full headlights increase visibility helping you spot children in dark costumes or decorations spilling onto pavements, and taillights help mark the car for children passing behind.
🅿️ Choose a spot to park where you can pull forward when leaving to avoid blind spots when backing up.
🎃 Keep in mind that bulky costumes can interfere with a snug seatbelt fit.

The regularly scheduled meetings of the following groups have been canceled due to there being no new business or agenda items requiring consideration:

- Conservation Easement Committee scheduled on October 21, 2026.
- Historic Preservation Commission scheduled on October 21, 2026.
- Planning & Zoning Board scheduled on October 22, 2026.
- Board of Adjustment scheduled on October 22, 2026.

The Oak Ridge Mountains-to-Sea Trail Committee will host a guided hike this Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 9 a.m. at the Cascades Preserve located at 7350 Goodwill Church Road in Kernersville. Join them for a hike along the MST on the Falling Waters Trail as they celebrate NC's Great Trails State Day.

Early voting for the 2026 General Election begins today, Thursday, October 15, 2026 and ends on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
