Fire Inspector George Carroll was recently promoted to Fire Marshal โ€“ Assistant Chief, who will lead the Fire Prevention Office.

Chief Carroll has worked for the City of Oak Ridge since 2007 and was promoted to Fire Inspector in 2015. He has over 30 years of fire service experience, starting his career with the Clinton Fire Department in 1995 and working for Bechtel for a short period at the K-25 site before transitioning in 2007 to the City.

During his time with the City, he completed a bachelorโ€™s degree in Fire Administration/Fire Investigation from Columbia Southern University. Currently, he is the 1st Vice President of the Tennessee Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators (TNIAAI) and will become the President of the TNIAAI in August of this year.

This promotion is incredibly well deserved. Thank you for everything you do. We appreciate you and your commitment.

Thank you so much to those who came to our recent Touch-A-Truck event, making it such a success!

The Public Works Department had 500 vests to hand out and completely ran out at 3:15!

We are incredibly appreciative of all of our City's departments, crews, TVA, Waste Connections, ABA Centers of Tennessee, Roan State, and EQAB for coming together to put this event on.

We can't wait to do this event again next year, but we want to make it perfect for you! As this is just our second time doing this event, the first time being in the Library parking lot with no more than 8 vehicles, and now in A.K. Bissell Park with almost double the vehicles, we still have room to improve.

Your opinion and ideas matter! Please take this quick survey about the event so we can make it better for next year. https://ayrs.io/SR8kvC
