I had a chance to go by Crossroads Center of Hope to take pictures of the work to ready for the primer coat of paint in the baby's room and bathrooms. Again, I realized it takes a lot longer to do the work because of what must be done before the final coat of paint. All of this is done on the wall area above the original tile we are saving. First is scraping any areas that are peeling from the former paint and filler, second, is filling any holes on the walls and around the window with spackle or joint compound and let dry. Third, a layer of skim coat is applied and smoothed over the entire area for a perfect flat look. When that is dry it is lightly sanded to remove any bumps, fuzz or drips, creating a uniform surface. Fourth, The wall is wiped down thoroughly to remove all sanding dust. After all that is done the wall area is ready for the primer to seal the surface, then the final coat of paint. Another step completed, then Jim will be back to finish any final trim work.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ❤ TO ❤ FROM ALL OF US AT CROSSROADS MINISTRY AND CROSSROADS CENTER OF HOPE.

The past is just that, what used to be but isn’t any longer, the good, the bad, and the ugly. The present is important because we are using that time to bring hope and security to others, the mothers and children who will be living, surviving, and growing, at Crossroads Center of Hope. Every person needs to be able to look forward by looking at their present circumstances and seeing what and how they could change their life for the better for all involved. It could be an easy thing or it could be a hard thing, but it can be done if you care enough to do better.

Crossroads past was full of ups and downs, can we or can't we, will we or won't we, should we or shouldn't we, BUT, with the help of many people, your hearts, gifts, and energy, WE DID IT, we survived, never considered not moving forward, we beat the odds, we are conquering, and we will open sometime in 2026. And, because of that, our first week in 2026 is already beginning with the detail work meetings that need to be done before the final work; heat and air split systems and flooring is installed. Then, of course, we will need the decorative metal fencing in front of the living area, but, it too shall happen, I am certain! We know this because God is in charge and is leading us to the finish line, step by step! ❤

Merry Christmas from Crossroads Ministry ❤ to ❤

This picture is from Dec. 24, 2020 and the second one is what we look like now. On our way to finishing the inside of the front apartment building and being open in 2026. We are Blessed!

Yesterday, after I finished making and mailing the Christmas goodies for my children, I finally had time to get over to Crossroads Center of Hope and take more pictures. Our finish carpenter, Jim, was just starting the single apartment for the finish work and it will be done by now.

January will be the beginning of our busy New Year with a friend who has a tile company coming to look at our bathrooms and see what needs to be done and our kitchen cabinet consultant is coming to remeasure, the first time it was only studs, and we'll look over the plans already designed to be certain it will all work now that the walls are finished, then they will be ordered. So exciting, can't wait until the rest of the finish items begin getting done. It's been a long process, but finally getting to the finish line! ❤ to ❤

Yesterday was Crossroads 'A Christmas Tea' at the Old Towne Inn, and a fun time it was. Many new ladies plus the ones who wouldn't miss any of our teas, what a wonderful group. A smaller one than usual, but nevertheless, a fun, noisy one, just what I like.

And I have no idea what happened to the before pictures and other pictures of the tables. I know I forgot to take some but definitely remembered the first, before our ladies came.

So now, we can all look forward to our Valentine's Tea on February 9, 2026 and a fun way to begin a new year. Besides the fact that we are close to the finish line inside the building, which is so exciting in itself. We are Blessed! ❤ to ❤

Day 3 - The men from Hope of East TN needed to get out of the house so gave me a call pleading to be able to go out to Crossroads and work some more. So, after arriving, they split and eight started on filling the drive areas with gravel they had filled with soil the last time, but because of the rain it never had a chance to settle and became mud puddles. The other two had plans already to head to the kudzu with an extension saw so they could begin cutting the kudzu that was across the creek and extending into our trees. So from 1:15 to 4:15 they worked and worked and I walked and walked! 🤣

They will be back on December 19 unless illness hit them again and are eager to continue working on the ever growing kudzu.

Day 2 - Working on only one room at a time now so Jim began with the Laundry Room at the front end. Waiting on the pull down stairs then he will install and finish that area and the bathroom door was partially worked on but waiting on something. It was a bit different than just adding the door and its surround that it comes with. Will find out next week. 😅

Day 1 - Beginning on the apartment inside finish work. Jim had been concentrating with working on one item at a time per apartment and realized it wasn't time effective, so today he is beginning at our laundry room and will finish all he does then move on to each apartment to complete, before moving on! For the three middle apartments he will build the shelves in the cubby for the children and offered to do a strip for the hooks for jackets, etc. from the shelves to the window. A great option instead of what we had thought about.

He is also dressed for the weather, but, since our apartment building is so well insulated, plus having cinder blocks and crab orchard stone on the outside walls, it is actually quite warm inside. Our moms and children will find it comfortable in all kinds of weather because of the way it was built. They will be blessed! ❤ to ❤

These shots are all of the crown molding in the kitchen and great room area. Later I will have lots of different pictures with all of the trim.

There is a crisis for safe housing in our area and Crossroads Ministry wants to be a part of alleviating that need for:

• A mother and children who are hospitalized for exposure on a wintery night because of living in their car, if they have one.
• A family who continues to return to the abuser because they aren’t able to find a place to live safely.
• As the next step for a mother and children leaving a domestic violence shelter but needing a safe place to begin again.

Crossroads Ministry will be the only sanctuary in Anderson County, Tennessee providing long-term transitional/supportive housing for at-risk single mothers and their children.

“With the help of mentors and the community single mother families will live at Crossroads Center of Hope for up to three years while mom receives vocational training or continues her education”. The families will live in a safe place along with other families in a supportive community of unconditional love and guidance.

You’re invited to join this adventure of many hearts and hands working together ❤ to ❤
