The Long Table Dinner on Jackson Square offers an evening centered on local food, conversation, and shared experience.

Food insecurity continues to affect families throughout Campbell County, but local organizations are working together every day to make sure help is available.

At our August 26 Campbell County Roundtable, we heard from Catholic Charities’ Crazy Quilt Regional Pantry, Food Life Services, and Second Harvest/Harvesting Hope about the growing need for food assistance and the partnerships helping meet that need.

🥫 Crazy Quilt serves approximately 1,295 clients and is using a client-choice pantry model that allows families to select the foods they need.

🥕 Food Life Services serves approximately 250 clients using donated and rescued food, supported by a growing network of volunteers.

🎒 Second Harvest’s Food for Kids Backpack Program serves more than 600 Campbell County students, while summer feeding programs provided more than 10,000 meals this summer.

One thing was clear across all three presentations: more people are reaching out for help, including people seeking assistance for the first time.

We are grateful for the organizations, volunteers, farmers, businesses, and community partners working together to fight hunger in Campbell County.

📣 Calling Health and Senior Services nonprofits!

United Way’s 2026 Impact Grant application process will open on October 5, 2026, for new and returning organizations serving Anderson and Campbell counties.

Eligible programs may address:

❤️ Health challenges affecting individuals and families
👵 The needs of older adults
🤝 Services that help community members thrive at every stage of life

Organizations planning to apply must attend the mandatory applicant meeting on September 17 from 9:00–11:30 a.m.

Application timeline

September 17 — Mandatory applicant meeting
October 5 — Online application opens
November 2 — Part 1 deadline
November 20 — Selected applicants receive access to Part 2
December 18 — Part 2 deadline and annual reports due

The grant review process will take place in early 2027, with funding recipients announced in March 2027.

Atomic Fall Fest returns to Oak Ridge on September 12, 2026, and we’re excited to be part of the celebration!

🕊️ Find the UWAC table next to Altrusa and Rotary as we help support the Peace Pole Project. Together, we’re working toward the goal of seeing 250 Peace Poles erected for America’s 250th Anniversary.

Each pole shares one simple but powerful message:

🌎 May Peace Prevail on Earth.

Come say hello, then spend the day enjoying live entertainment, local artists, craft vendors, food trucks, community booths, and a FREE kids zone with inflatables, magicians, face painting, games, and more.

When community partners come together, meaningful impact can happen in just a few hours.

After Katy Brown from Oak Ridge National Laboratory reached out to United Way of Anderson County about a service opportunity for approximately 25 senior leaders from ORNL/UT-Battelle, we were glad to help make the connection.

Following their meeting at the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce, the group assembled EMS Leave Behind Kits with supplies provided by ASAP of Anderson. These kits are given by first responders to individuals to utilize following an overdose for the administration of Narcan/Naloxone. In addition to the medication, each kit includes helpful information and resources designed to connect individuals with support when they may need it most.

ASAP Executive Director Shayla Wilson also spoke with the group about ASAP’s programs and services, while Ada Hernandez-Bell, Executive Director of United Way Anderson, Campbell, Morgan and Scott Counties shared more about United Way’s role in connecting people, organizations, and resources across our community.

Thank you to ORNL/UT-Battelle, ASAP of Anderson County, and the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce for helping turn a meeting into an opportunity to serve.

An important chapter of American history happened right here in Oak Ridge.

In 1955, the Scarboro 85 helped break down barriers of segregation—one year before the Clinton 12, two years before the Little Rock Nine, and five years before Ruby Bridges.

Now, our community has an opportunity to help preserve and honor their story.

📣 2026 Impact Grant Applications Are Coming Soon!

United Way of Anderson, Campbell, Morgan & Scott Counties is preparing to open the 2026 Impact Grant application process for new and returning nonprofit organizations providing Health & Senior Services programming in Anderson and Campbell counties.

Programs addressing the needs of older adults and broader health challenges affecting individuals and families at every stage of life are encouraged to apply.

⚠️ Planning to apply? The applicant meeting is mandatory for all current partners and new organizations seeking funding.
