We couldn’t do what we do each day without our substitute teachers! They step in on short notice to keep the learning moving forward when our regular classroom teachers need to be away from school.

Our Human Resources department recently hosted Substitute Teacher Orientation and had a wonderful turnout. School leaders shared helpful information about classroom procedures, available resources, district expectations, and what to expect when serving in our schools. It was also a chance to say thank you and remind our substitutes just how much we appreciate them.

We’re always looking for great substitutes to join our team! If you or someone you know may be interested, visit https://www.ortn.edu/central-office/employment/ to learn more.

Now is a great time to donate to Oak Ridge Public Schools Education Foundation since all donations are doubled! The teacher grants funded through this program provide innovative and unique learning experiences for students districtwide. It's a win-win!

👀 Seeing double? That's twice the impact for Oak Ridge educators and students!

Right now, every gift to the Julie, Herbert and Thelma Dodd Educator Grants Fund is being matched dollar for dollar, up to $5,000.

For years, educator grants have helped Oak Ridge teachers turn great ideas into meaningful opportunities for students - providing resources, supporting innovative instruction, and bringing new learning experiences into the classrooms.

🎒 $50 becomes $100. $250 becomes $500. Your gift = DOUBLE the impact.

Every donation is an investment in great teachers, great ideas, and extraordinary learning opportunities for Oak Ridge students.

The Oak Ridge Public Schools Education Foundation has announced a new philanthropic fund, created by longtime Oak Ridge residents James and Patricia Wilson, to support teachers and students at Willow Brook for years to come.

The gift holds special meaning for Patricia, who taught first grade at Willow Brook from 1966 to 1979. During a recent school visit, she and James were welcomed with handwritten thank-you notes and posters from students and staff.

We love every opportunity to appreciate the fruits of the fine arts programming available in our schools, and tonight's performance by Glenwood Elementary 1st Graders was no exception. Student performances are always a highlight of our monthly Board of Education meetings.

Thank you to Ms. Blank for directing such a wonderful performance and to families for attending!

Our ORHS Interact Club, sponsored by the Noon Rotary Club, paddled into Emory Valley Center's Dragon Boat Race — giving back to our community and having a blast doing it!

Students teamed up, hit the water, and joined an event that raised more than $20,000 to build an inclusive playground space where every kid can play and belong.

We're proud of our students for showing up, working together, and making a real difference in our community! A special thank you to Interact Club sponsor Alison King for her support and dedication to students.

3rd graders at Linden took part in "Character Court" today! In teams of two, students collected text evidence from their books, used a rubric to sharpen their analysis, and defended their reasoning in front of peers and judges.

This experience was a great early opportunity for students to practice being active participants, backing up their thinking with evidence, and developing their public speaking to build confidence. There was even a 3D-printed gavel sized just right for the tiniest judge!

An unplanned but meaningful moment also emerged: a reminder that feeling nervous the first time you try something new is completely normal — and that pushing through that nervousness to persevere is what really matters.

Special thanks to our creative 3rd-grade teachers, who even dressed the part for the occasion. Thank you for making learning so much fun!

This week, Robertsville Middle hosted its annual Club Fair, giving students a chance to explore the wide range of clubs available this school year. From clubs focused on building positive peer relationships and academic enrichment to strategy, creativity, music, and the arts — there's truly something for everyone. There are also clubs dedicated to service and volunteerism, helping our students make a difference beyond the school walls.

A huge thank-you to our student representatives who put in the work to create club displays, and to our incredible staff sponsors whose time and dedication make these clubs possible.

Woodland Elementary School-Oak Ridge teachers are committed to their theme this year — Teach Like a PIRATE.

Drawing inspiration from the Dave Burgess book, it's all about Passion, Immersion, Rapport, Ask and Analyze, Transformation, and Enthusiasm — the things that make a classroom feel alive. Teachers take heart, foster creativity, and a willingness to go all in. We love the personality and enthusiasm our teachers bring to work every day, and we know our students think it's pretty awesome too.

Full speed ahead, Woodland!
