On November 1st Tractor Supply in Oakdale graciously donated $500 to the Oakdale Fire Department. We would like to thank them for the donation and the continuous support they give to the department.

The Oakdale Fire Department is now accepting applications for a secretary. Applications can be picked up at the fire station at 115 N10th st. Or at City Hall. Deadline to have applications turned in is Friday @ 12:00 pm. The opening is a civil service position for full-time.

Thank you for the dedication, the countless memories and knowledge that was bestowed to the department through 66 years with the department. You will be greatly missed. We will take it from here chief. Until we meet again someday OFD #10.

On July 15, 2025 at 0335 am BPFD4 was dispatched to a medical emergency on Hwy 26 near Scallon Rd. with CPR in progress. FF/OP Jonathan Ashworth and FF Tabitha Ashworth responded from their home on Scallon Rd. in their POV. Winds were calm and there was a dense patchy fog in the area. Their vehicle left the roadway near 766 Scallon Rd striking several trees and causing heavy damage to the vehicle. Jonathan Ashworth died on scene because of injuries sustained in the accident. FF Tabitha Ashworth survived with only minor injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Louisiana State Police, Troop D. Jonathan Ashworth has been a member of the fire district since November 14, 2018. He was the best person I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was an asset to his community, his family and this department. His smile and distinct voice will be missed.

Oakdale Fire Department was honored to assist the Alexandria Fire Department with the fire prevention presentation at the Oakdale Elementary School. It was awesome and a very well taught fire safety to the children.

As the holidays approach reminder please be fire safe and take a couple of extra seconds to double check any lights being put up for exposed or broken wires. Don't leave the stove or oven unattended when cooking. Having working fire alarms and a fire escape plan is very effective in staying safe.

Thank you FETA-Louisiana Fire and Emergency Training Academy for the live fire burn training. That took place at the Oakdale Fire Station. It was a great training experience for not only the new firefighters but the veteran firefighters as well. There is no such thing as too much training.
