North Fayette Police are seeing an increase in scams using fake law enforcement notices, phone calls, and AI-generated flyers that appear official.

Common signs of a scam:
• Demands for immediate payment to avoid arrest or legal action
• Requests to deposit money at Walmart, Walgreens, or another retailer.
• Instructions to pay using gift cards, cryptocurrency, or money transfers.
• Pressure to act quickly or keep the matter secret.
• Phone calls, texts, or notices claiming to be from law enforcement demanding money.

The Sheriff's Office, Attorney General's Office, and local law enforcement agencies, including the North Fayette Township Police Department, will never demand payment over the phone or through gift cards or retail store transactions.

If something seems off, it probably is....

If you believe you have been targeted by a scam, call 911 and request to speak with a police officer.

The North Fayette Township Police Department is pleased to announce the newest member of our organization, K9 Officer Mylo.

K9 Mylo is a fi****ms detection, and tracking dog who will work with Patrolman (School Resource Officer) James Samarco, to help enhance safety across the West Allegheny School District campus. K9 Mylo is also trained to detect explosives containing smokeless powder and/or black powder.

Patrolman Samarco and K9 Mylo have completed specialized training in the detection of fi****ms, ammunition, weapons-related materials, and tracking. This highly trained team will serve as an additional resource in our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors of West A, under the direction of Lieutenant Michael Hamm.

You may see K9 Mylo conducting routine patrols on the afternoon shift, participating in safety checks, attending school events, and interacting with students and staff throughout the year. While his primary role is weapons detection and tracking, K9 Mylo will also serve as a positive ambassador, helping build relationships between law enforcement and our school community. Additionally, K9 Mylo will serve as an asset to the police department, during the summer, while Patrolman Samarco returns to the road for 3 months.

Please join us in welcoming K9 Mylo. We look forward to the positive impact he will have in our schools and the community as a whole.

With profound sadness, the North Fayette Police Department announces the unexpected passing of Sergeant Todd Heufelder. Sergeant Heufelder was a distinguished and dedicated employee who faithfully served this department and our community for 30 years. During his career, Sergeant Heufelder served as a Patrol Supervisor and created the department’s K9 program. During his tenure, Sergeant Heufelder demonstrated exceptional commitment, professionalism, and devotion to duty.

We are deeply saddened by this loss, and our prayers are with Sergeant Heufelder’ s family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. His service, dedication, and legacy will not be forgotten.
