☀️🌡️ EXTREME HEAT SAFETY TIPS 🌡️☀️
High temperatures can become dangerous quickly. As temperatures rise, Oakfield Volunteer Fire & EMS Department encourages everyone to take a few simple precautions to stay safe.
💧 Stay Hydrated
• Drink plenty of water—even if you don’t feel thirsty.
• Limit alcohol, caffeine, and sugary drinks.
🌳 Stay Cool
• Spend time in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
• Visit a cooling center, library, or other public building if you don’t have A/C.
• Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing.
☀️ Limit Outdoor Activity
• Avoid strenuous work and exercise during the hottest part of the day (10 AM–4 PM).
• If you must be outside, take frequent breaks in the shade.
🚗 Never Leave Children or Pets in a Vehicle
Even with the windows cracked, the inside of a vehicle can become deadly within minutes.
❤️ Check on Others
Older adults, young children, people with chronic medical conditions, and those who work outdoors are at greater risk for heat-related illness. Please check on your neighbors, friends, and family—especially those living alone.
