Parks previously closed by the East Bay Regional Park District will remain closed through Saturday and will reopen Sunday morning. Some hill and inland East Bay Regional Parks were closed on Tuesday, July 2, due to extreme fire conditions and excessive heat.
Park status is subject to change depending on conditions. Check www.ebparks.org before heading to a park.
The National Weather Service-Bay Area has extended its Red Flag through Saturday, July 6, with Level 2 restrictions in effect DISTRICT WIDE. A Red Flag Warning means that dry and windy conditions are expected, leading to extreme fire weather risks.
Level 2 Extreme Fire Danger Restrictions Include:
• No smoking. Smoking is prohibited in all regional parks, trails, and shorelines. (Prohibited year-round)
• NO fireworks. Fireworks are not permitted in any Regional Parks. (Prohibited year-round)
• No open fires or barbecues of any type. Only gas-fueled stoves are allowed.
• Drive only on designated roadways – no off-road driving. Do not drive or park on dry grass, as heat from a vehicle's undercarriage can start a fire.
• Secure all tow chains – dragging tow chains can spark fires.

Park Closures Extended Through Friday; Swim Facilities and Shoreline Regional Parks to Continue to Remain Open – Parks closed Tuesday by the East Bay Regional Park District will remain closed during this week’s increased temperatures and extreme fire danger (subject to change). The National Weather Service extended a Red Flag Warning and Excessive Heat Warning through Saturday, July 6. The Park District will reassess conditions and provide additional information Friday evening.

A Red Flag Warning means that dry and windy conditions are expected, leading to extreme fire weather risks.

Swim facilities and Shoreline Regional Parks will remain open. Follow these safety rules and tips:
• Avoid the hottest part of the day. If you do visit, go in the morning or early evening when it is cooler.
• Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
• Wear sunscreen and lightweight, light-colored clothing.
• Avoid drinking alcohol and caffeine, which can worsen the heat's effects on your body.
• Don’t forget your pets! Carry water for them.

The Park District is reopening some Regional Parks previously closed due to winter storms. However, some parks remain closed as park staff continue to assess storm damage and clear debris from parks and trails, including downed trees, falling branches, mudslides, landslides, and flooding.

Majority of East Bay Regional Parks remain closed – PUBLIC ADVISED TO FOLLOW ALL PARK SIGNAGE AND STAY OUT OF CLOSED PARKS. Unseen hazards can remain even when it seems dry and safe. Conditions are unpredictable, with landslides, mudslides, washed out trails, and downed trees and limbs occurring within our parks and on the surrounding roads.

The majority of East Bay Regional Parks remain closed due to recent storms and conditions, including downed trees, falling branches, flooding and mudslides. The Park District is advising the public to follow all park signage and stay out of closed parks and areas with caution tape.

All East Bay Regional Parks closed Wednesday, January 4, 2023, through Thursday, January 5, 2023, due to Atmospheric River Storm System. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch and high wind warning for the San Francisco Bay Area with flooding, landslides, and rapidly rising rivers and creeks possible. Public safety is the Park District’s top priority. Residents should not enter closed parks. Public safety personnel may not be able to respond to emergencies due to road and trail conditions. Anyone entering Regional Parks when closed is subject to citation or arrest for violation of the Park District’s Ordinance 38. The Park District plans to reopen the majority of parks on Friday, January 6, 2023, after conditions are assessed. High winds and the saturated ground can cause falling trees and branches, which can cause injury and create safety hazards. When parks are reopened, visitors are encouraged to be mindful of conditions and exercise caution in the parks.

Due to expected storm conditions and high winds, all East Bay Regional Parks are closed Wednesday, January 4, 2023, through Thursday, January 5, 2023. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch and high wind warning for the San Francisco Bay Area.
