🚌 The big yellow buses are back on the roads! 🚌

As kids head back to school, remember they are most at risk when approaching or leaving the school bus.

🚗 Slow down when you see a school bus.
🛑 Stop when the bus has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
👀 Watch carefully for children crossing the road.

Let’s all do our part to help keep Illinois students safe this school year! 🎒

🔌 more than 3,000 home fires originate with extension cords each year?

Planning a midweek project or simply need a little extra power around your home? Make sure you’re using the right extension cord for the job.

✅ Choose a cord rated for the intended use and electrical load.
✅ Inspect cords for damage before using them.
✅ Keep cords away from heat and water.
🚫 Never plug one extension cord into another.
🚫 Don’t use extension cords as a permanent wiring solution.

🚨 CO Alarm Reminder! 🚨

The “Ber” months—September, October, November and December—aren’t far away, which means cooler weather and increased use of heating equipment are right around the corner. But don’t wait until fall to check your carbon monoxide (CO) alarms!

CO can be a threat year-round. Water heaters, furnaces, generators and other fuel-burning appliances can produce CO if they malfunction or aren’t properly vented.

🏠 Make sure you have CO alarms on every level of your home and near sleeping areas.
🔋 Test your alarms regularly and replace batteries as needed.
📅 Check the age of your alarms and replace them according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

A working CO alarm can alert you to a dangerous, invisible and odorless gas before it’s too late. Check your CO alarms today!

🚨 Parents, take a closer look at those “doops”! 😳

Our friends and partners at the .S. Consumer Product Safety Commission are warning about safety concerns involving fake and counterfeit squishy toys.

Some knockoff toys may not meet important safety standards and could pose risks to children. Before buying or letting your child play with a squishy toy, make sure it comes from a reputable seller and check for safety information and recalls.

🧸 A cute toy isn’t worth a safety risk. When in doubt, check it out!
