AC-OCAP is committed to reducing poverty by providing services and programs targeted to low-income individuals and families.
Alameda County-Oakland’s CAP is part of broad national and state networks of nearly 1,100 agencies, both non-profit private and public organizations, that extend across the United States—all working to eliminate poverty on a local and national level. CAP involves local citizens in its effort to address specific barriers to achieving self-sufficiency.

One or more major earthquakes are predicted to hit the Bay Area by 2045. To reduce the potential loss of life, maintain housing stock, and reduce property damage City Council adopted an ordinance requiring property owners to seismically strengthen vulnerable structures known as “soft story”.
The City of Oakland's Planning & Building and Housing & Community Development Departments are hosting information sessions on soft story retrofitting. Property owners AND tenants are encouraged to attend one of the following sessions:
