🤝 Over the last couple weeks, dozens of East Bay DSA members have joined Local 6 and Local 10 on the picket line, eventually throwing a party that raised more than $3,000 for Local 6's strike fund.

Our sincerest thanks to everyone who came out, donated, and spread the word. It's moments like this that make us feel proud to be socialists and DSA members!

El 7 de julio de 2026, agentes del ICE atacaron y mataron a Lorenzo Salgado Araujo mientras se dirigía al trabajo.

Esta tragedia no ocurrió de forma aislada.

Hemos sido testigos de una agresión constante por parte de la migra aquí en el Este de la Bahía; su reino de terror no ha hecho más que intensificarse. Tan solo la semana pasada, la migra detuvo a más de 10,000 personas en todo el país en un lapso de cinco días, lo que representa un aumento con respecto a los meses anteriores. Su agresividad desenfrenada ha tenido repercusiones en todo el país. El Abril pasado, a pocas horas de distancia, en Patterson, California, agentes de la migra intentaron matar a Ivan Carlos Mendoza tras acecharlo mientras conducía. Hasta el día de hoy, el gobierno federal intenta procesarlo y encarcelarlo, en un esfuerzo continuo por encubrir el incidente.

Un padre ha mu**to, y las vidas de sus seres queridos y de los miembros de su comunidad han cambiado irremediablemente.

On July 7, 2026, ICE agents targeted and killed Lorenzo Salgado Araujo while on his way to work.

This tragedy did not happen in isolation.

We have seen continuous aggression from ICE here in the Bay Area, their reign of terror has only escalated. Last week alone ICE abducted more than 10,000 people nationwide in just five days, a sharp increase from months prior. Their uncontrolled aggression has echoed across the country. Just hours away in Patterson, California last April, agents attempted to kill Ivan Carlos Mendoza after stalking him in traffic. To this day, the Federal Government is attempting to charge him and imprison him in a continued effort to cover up the incident.

A father is dead, and the lives of his loved ones and community members have shifted irreparably.

🗣️🗣️ SCABS OUT!!! Support C&H Strikers! 🪧

C&H is shipping in scabs from Louisiana to break the strike. We are NOT going to let them win!

We need people early in the morning to hold the picket line, block the scabs, and ensure that the sugar does not reach the factory.

🚨🪧 TOMORROW: EMERGENCY PICKET IN SUPPORT OF C&H WORKERS ON STRIKE!

ILWU local 6 workers at the C&H factory in Crockett are on strike! C&H is attempting to undermine the strike by bringing in a shipment of sugar to one of the ONLY non-union docks in the bay!

This sugar is soaked in blood. It comes from Negros Island in the Philippines. The fascist president of the Philippines, B**g B**g Marcos, has been carrying out a terror campaign of assassinations and massacres of Philipino and international land defenders including the recent massacre of the Negros 19!

Join East Bay DSA outside the scab dock to say, "No scab labor! No blood for sugar!"

JUSTICE FOR THE NEGROS 19! DEFEND THE LAND & STOP THE ATTACKS! ✊❤️‍🔥

We are infuriated, in grief, and compelled to take action upon learning about the massacre of the Negros 19 and the displacement of hundreds of residents in Toboso, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

Two American comrades were killed, including Bay Area kasama Lyle Prijoles, who many East Bay DSA members knew. Other civilians killed were youth, residents, and organizers reporting on the state violence in Negros and the livelihood of farmers.

East Bay DSA shares the same demands as the International Committee of Human Rights in the Philippines:

1. Hold an immediate and independent investigation into the AFP’s massacre on April 19th in Negros Occidental;
2. Ensure the victims’ families, as well as their lawyers and human rights advocates, be given full access to their loved ones’ remains without any threat, interrogation, harm, intimidation;
3. End U.S. support and funding for the Marcos Jr. administration, as well as U.S. military aid to the Philippines.
