We are pleased to inform you that deFremery Pool will be open for the Fall season from Saturday, August 5th to Sunday, December 31st, 2023!

Here are the Lap Swim hours:
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 12:00pm - 2:00pm
- Saturday: 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Public swim:
Saturday 3p-5p

We also offer Learn to Swim classes for all ages:
- Preschool (4 years-5 years): Saturday 10:40am - 11:10am
- Youth Learn to Swim (6 years-13 years): Saturday 10:00am - 10:30am, 11:20am - 11:50am
- Special Needs: Saturday 10:40am - 11:10am
- Parent and Child (6 months-13 years): Saturday 10:40am - 11:10am
- Adult (14+): Saturday 11:20am - 11:50am

Please note that deFremery Pool will be closed on Monday, September 4th (Labor Day) and Saturday, September 9th (Admissions Day).

🏊‍♀️🎉 Two months of hard work this summer has paid off! Our swim team was in last place last year, but through unwavering dedication and relentless effort, we fought back this year and had an absolutely amazing season. 🏆 Congratulations to the two-time champs for their outstanding performance and well-deserved victory with 325 points! 🥇🥇

Today’s swim team championship results:
5th place Marauders - 91 points
4th place Lions - 240 points
3rd place Fremont - 290 points 🥉
2nd place - West Side Sea Dragons - 311 points 🥈
1st place - Temescal Pool - 325 points 1st place 🥇

📣💦 Water Wings: False Security or Swim Development Hindrance? 💔

Attention, community! We need to talk about water wings and their impact on our young swimmers. While they may seem convenient, they can create a false sense of security and hinder swimming development. Let's dive into the facts and explore safer alternatives. 🏊‍♀️🚫🔒

1️⃣ False Security: Water wings unintentionally distract us from providing constant supervision. It's tempting to split our attention between careful watching and other distractions like our phones. But remember, disasters can happen in the blink of an eye. Stay alert and prioritize safety above all. 👀📱🚫

2️⃣ Vulnerability: Water wings are easy to remove and prone to punctures. They are not indestructible, which means they can fail when we least expect it. We must choose our swimming aids wisely to ensure our little ones stay safe in the water. 🌊🔍🛡️

3️⃣ Hindrance to Swim Development: While water wings may offer initial confidence without being cumbersome, they can hinder proper swimming technique. Arm floats condition kids to rely solely on their arms for balance, promoting vertical floating rather than the correct swimming position. Let's encourage effective breathing and torso balance control for safe and confident swimming. 🤝🏊‍♂️💪

To foster safer swimming practices, here are a few tips:

✅ Enroll your child in swimming lessons to learn proper technique from trained instructors. 🏊‍♀️📚👨‍🏫
