Supt. Johnson Trammell shares some thoughts on the passage of the George Floyd Resolution and reimagining school safety:

"I stand strong in my resolve to reimagine school safety and positive school culture without school police.
As an educator, I know that our students and staff must be safe - physically and emotionally. School safety is the foundation of a positive school culture in which all students are held to high academic expectations so they can truly thrive. "

Join me in thanking our dedicated hard working teachers for all that they do!
We ❤️ our teachers, they are amazing!!!

Our teachers are amazing. They're dedicated, creative, caring and incredibly hard-working. And that's during a regular school year. But in the midst of a pandemic? They take things to an entirely new level.

When our schools closed to in-person instruction, our teachers immediately rose to the challenge of the new distance learning landscape. They created a whole new plan for how students would continue learning and thought about ways to keep students and families engaged in the school community. They attended webinars to learn new ways to connect, they flexed their technology muscles to utilize new software, they updated lesson plans, they personally reached out to families, and so much more.

Please take some time to appreciate our educators this coming week by sending an email, a card or posting on social media using the hashtag!

Hello!
I’m excited to share that a Buy Nothing Project group has recently formed in the area I live in Oakland, which is generally the School/Patten/Peralta neighborhoods.
The Buy Nothing Project is a global movement to connect real life neighbors through shared resources and acts of kindness.
This worldwide network of hyper-local gift economies is dedicated to random acts of kindness. Neighbors share furniture, soup, decor, kitchen appliances, tools, clocks, compost, books, and nearly anything you can think of. Neighbors also give "gifts of self" such as a ride to the airport, walking dogs, babysitting, caring for plants, or picking up medicine.
Here is the link to join. You must live within the boundaries of Fruitvale, 35th Ave, 580 freeway, and Foothill Blvd in Oakland to join this group (but there are many groups in Oakland!). Please make sure to answer all 3 questions for quick acceptance to the group. Happy gifting!
https://www.facebook.com/groups/698954804142123
If you are unfamiliar with what the Buy Nothing Project is all about, please see here (and this is also where you can find a group in your own neighborhood if you don’t live in the boundaries I described): www.buynothingproject.org
Cheers!
